to Plymouth!

It’s happening again!

For the second year running, Plymouth is to host an historic World Championship. The 2026 Nacra 15 World Championship will be hosted by Hooe Point Sailing Club and Plym Yacht Club from the 25th July to the 1st of August in conjunction with the Nacra 15 class.

Why come to Plymouth?

Plymouth is home to a strong sailing scene. Plym Yacht Club has a strong youth sailing programme and Hooe Point Sailing Club drives a strong dinghy sailing scene. The Port of Plymouth has a thorough history of holding successful class events.

Plymouth offers a variety of sailing areas with consistent winds and challenging tides, providing an ideal environment for competitive racing.

Rich maritime history

As one of the world’s oldest and most renowned sailing destinations, Plymouth has a rich maritime heritage and a long tradition of hosting prestigious sailing events.

Plymouth has the necessary infrastructure and facilities to accommodate a large-scale international sailing event, including marinas, boat yards, and ample shoreside amenities.

Accessible location

Plymouth is relatively easily accessible from various parts of the UK and Europe, making it a convenient location for participants and spectators alike.

Supportive local economy

About our Clubs

The event is being organised and hosted by a joint committee from Plym Yacht Club, Hooe Point Sailing Club and the UK Nacra 15 Class Association.

Plym Yacht Club

Founded in 1970, Plym Yacht Club is one of the leading sailing clubs in Plymouth. Situated on the shores of the River Plym, the club has an active racing scene. With its deep-water moorings and excellent race management experience, Plym Yacht Club regularly hosts high-profile regattas and national championships.

Hooe Point Sailing Club

Originally formed to make sailing and boating affordable, we are a small sailing club based in Plymouth for Civil Servants, family and freinds. With the biggest dinghy fleet in Plymouth, Hooe Point Sailing Club enjoys great competitive Monday night summer racing and Saturday morning winter racing around Plymouth Sound.

“To be running our second World Championship in as many years here in Plymouth is needless to say groundbreaking. Plymouth Sound being full of Nacra 15’s flying around from across the world is truly going to be a sight to behold.”
